We understand that schools are busy places.
We aim to create meaningful, literacy focused events designed to enrich student learning without adding to teachers’ workloads.
Our Process:
Get in Touch
Email us to set up a zoom or in-person meeting so we can learn about your school, talk through our process, and answer your questions.
Choose Your Dates and Times
Book fairs run during lunch and after school. They are typically 3-5 days long.
Optional Customization
We love collaborating with you to pick books that suit your students. You can tailor the fair to your school community with theme, genre, and reading-level preferences.
Book Delivery
The books will arrive at your school a few days before the fair.
Set-Up
We’ll set up the fair the day before or the morning of, depending on your schedule.
Author Visits (optional)
We are actively exploring grants and partnerships to support funded author visits. At this time, an author visit can be booked for a $250 honorarium.
Tear-Down
On the last day of the fair we’ll take care of packing and picking everything up.
School Benefit
Your school receives 10% of total sales to put toward books and learning resources.
Popular Picks
If students want to purchase books that have been sold, we will place an order at the end of the fair and have it sent to the school the following week.
Here’s what we need from the school:
Communication
A point person to take the lead on communication between the school and Dear Toad as well as providing access to the room for set up.
Communication about the book fair to your school community - the more the better! We will supply printable posters, images for social media/newsletters/email, and a digital catalogue.
A schedule for all classes to visit the book fair to browse books and make purchases.
Volunteers
One - two volunteers during the fair hours to help with checking customers out and connecting students to books (volunteers could be the teacher-librarian, a teacher, a parent).
A Space
A room large enough for students to move comfortably between tables, where the book displays can remain set up for the duration of the fair.
Approximately six 8-foot tables plus a smaller table for a point of sale station.
Supervised student access to the room during non fair hours.
